Offered for only two short years (1997 and 1998), the 993-generation 911 Carrera S is one of the more rare variations of the model. Much as the Carrera 4S (first released in 1996), the 993 Carrera S featured the Turbo's wider body, wider tires, and stiffer suspension. However, unlike the 4S, the S was rear wheel drive, making it the more enthusiast-oriented model between the two. A model-specific "twin grille" spoiler helps differentiate the S from its brethren.
Given its higher base price and special placement in the model range, it is unsurprising that many Carrera S examples were well-optioned when ordered new. As always, special interior trim packages and extended leather were available, but one could also equip their 993 with a full "Aerokit" package.
